DFG awards a 2-year Heisenberg grant "The fate of structurally defined DNA lesions in human cells: repair and impact on gene transcription" (KH 263/5-1) to Andriy from April 2019

DFG approves funding for our project "Co-transcriptional repair and transcriptional bypass of bulky DNA adducts" within the research consortium CRC 1361 "Regulation of DNA Repair and Genome Stability". Hello to old CLUSTOXDNA friends Aaron Alt and Thomas Carell.

DFG and ANR approve funding of the "TG-TOX" 3-year joint grant with Anna Campalans Lab (CEA, François Jacob Institute of biology) to be conducted coordinately in Mainz and Paris from spring 2019 

October-December 2018
Nadine and Marta visit Anna Campalans Lab (CEA, François Jacob Institute of biology). During 6 weeks (3 weeks each) they participate in investigation of subnuclear re-localisation of DNA repair proteins to oxidative DNA lesions by confocal microscopy coupled with laser photosensitisation damage induction. Thank you, Anna and colleagues at CEA Fontenay-aux-Roses, for this experience!

Nadine and Marta present posters at the German DNA Repair 2018 Meeting in Karlsruhe. Both abstracts receive Travel Award of the German DNA Repair Society (DGDR); Marta again wins the best poster prise.

Marta and Nadine present posters at 1st Science Day of the University Cancer Center Mainz. Marta wins the best poster award for her presentation "Direct detection of mutagenic translesion DNA synthesis in human cells"

Svetlana Iavorenko (Lana) enters the lab as an International Summer School student. Lana studies transcriptional bypass of ribonucleotides (rG and rTHF) in DNA in human cells.

Daria Kim has started a 6-week internship in the lab as an International Summer School student. Daria will perform a screen for point mutations in the fluorophor proximal region of the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) suitable for rapid detection of DNA and RNA polymerase errors at the sites of DNA damage.

Andriy and Nataliya founded the lab "Responses to DNA Lesions" at the Institute of Toxicology, University Medical Center Mainz.

Andriy received Heisenberg Fellowship of the German Research Foundation to investigate functional impacts of DNA damage in human cells and the repair of structurally defined DNA lesions.
