After I studied chemistry at the universities Kaiserslautern and Mainz I switched in the course of my Master-, PhD and Postdoc time between the subjects Physical chemistry and Inorganic chemistry. This gave me the possibility to work in a variety of fields such as photon correlation spectroscopy, X-ray scattering on single crystals and powder, crystallisation, computer simulation, modelling, electron microscopy and electron crystallography. I am project leader at the "Centre for high resolution electron microscopy" at the University of Mainz and my research focus lies on the development of electron crystallographic methods for "ab-initio" structure analysis. I was the chair of the special interest group (SIG4) of the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) and since 2011 I am vize chair of the Comission on Electron Crystallography (CEC) of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr). |
