The group for
Environmental Modelling in the Climate System
at the JGU Mainz

Research fields:

Earth System Modelling from global to regional scales with a focus on atmospheric processes:
- Atmospheric chemistry and transport of constituents;
- Atmospheric aerosol (chemistry, microphysics and impacts);
- Interactions of clouds with atmospheric chemistry and vice versa.

The main tool used is a model system based on MESSy, the Modular Earth Submodel System.

The group is led by:
Prof. Dr. Holger Tost

Current group members:
Dr. Christiane Hofmann
Anne Barthelmehs
Marc Barra
Klaus Pankatz
Harald Rybka
Steven Schneider
Katharina Kaiser

Research projects and activities:
Further development and applications of MESSy (the Modular Earth Submodel System)
MACCHIATO (led by Dr. Astrid Kerkweg)
