We find three repetitions of four letters each (and no longer ones):
OFYW, Index 74 and 542 - Difference = 468 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 13, FYWL, Index 75 and 829 - Difference = 754 = 2 x 13 x 29, GCMH, Index 239 and 811 - Difference = 572 = 2 x 2 x 11 x 13.
The greatest common divisor of 468, 754, and 572 is 26 and suggests the period 26 too, again not completely convincing, but strong enough to let us start with thiy hypothesis. The number 26 also weakly suggests a rotor cipher.

The frequency distributions of the single columns fit monoalphabetic substitutions quite well: It seems that we are on the right way.

Now for the columns that have a maximal frequency of 7. First we replace X by e in column 12, and complete the diagonal.
Next we take column 13 and replace D by e. We get two times the bigram ee, and replacing I by j in column 18 two bigrams ej. In column 19 the J becomes k four times. In column 25 two times the P becomes q, and this is continued in column 1 by different letters. These are too many inconsistencies to satisfy us. Therefore we better postpone the decision.
The next tentative substitution is R --> e in column 16. Here again we get two times the bigram ee. Then some replacements look good until we come to the three replacements I --> v in column 7 and get the trigrams stv und euv. These could represent word boundaries. However when we three times meet K --> x in column 9 we again decide to postpone this case.
The next try is U --> e in column 20. This looks satisfying. Then we try K --> e in column 21 and likewise in 22. All this seems to fit and yields as a partial decryption:

row 13, column 11, G → hWe insert these into our text, and add the corresponding entries together with their diagonal continuations to the alphabet table. The same with the newly discovered X → h in row 21, column 7. This also settles one of the formerly postponed cases: In column 13 we should replace D → n instead of e.
