REMEMBER
before you hand in your term paper:
-
Make sure that the spelling is correct.
Faulty spelling will result in a grade discount!
-
Check your paper for grammatical and syntactic correctness - language mistakes also detract from your grade.
-
Make sure that your paper, including and particularly all references and the bibliography, follow MLA or LSA format.
Incorrect referencing will result in a grade discount!
-
Plagiarism will result in a failing grade. If you are not sure what constitutes
plagiarism
, consult the MLA Handbook, or me.
-
Double-space your text (excepting long quotations, of course). A single-spaced term paper is very strenuous to read, and I won't do it.
-
Leave a wide enough margin for me to scribble in.
-
Use examples from American English only: your paper has to relate to course topic!
-
Make sure the focus of your paper is on the linguistic aspect of your topic: your paper has to relate to course topic!
If you need a certificate for the BAFöG-Amt or are leaving for the
U.S. at the end of the summer and want your paper graded before then, let me
know by when you would like to have it back. Hand it in early enough so that
I have at least two weeks for reading and grading!
