VNC History

What do the version numbers mean?

The overall VNC system has a version number, currently 3.3.2 at the time of writing, which means it's the second version of the system based on  protocol version 3.3.

We add features and fixes to different platform packages at different times, so there may be several Revision numbers within a given version.  Revision 5 of version 3.3.2 is written 3.3.2R5.

We don't necessarily release all our revisions, especially with the Windows package, so there are often gaps in the numbers.  We tend to number the Windows packages to match the version of the WinVNC server, so if you want to find out which package you've got, have a look at the About box of the server.
