Uli reminds us of the current hardware options for interfacing the processor modules to ATLAS DCS. Based on the local CAN node (Fujitsu) located on each processor module the interface might either consist of a combination of hardware and firmware (bridge option), or on a pure software interface translating the standard CAN (not CANopen) packets into a representation that is understood by PVSS. Andrey has started to explore the use of the Labview OPC server as a software tool to digest CAN packets and forward them to PVSS. Other OPC servers could alternatively be used to accomplish this task.
