The main research questions I am currently tackling are:

How do clouds influence atmospheric (multiphase) chemistry and how clouds are affected by chemical processes in the gas, aerosol and cloud phase ?

I try to answer these topics by an explicit modelling of the relevant processes in a scale cascade of chemistry climate models, such as e.g.,ECHAM5/MESSy.

Currently, I hold a position as a Full Professor for Environmental Modelling in the Climate System , funded by the Carl-Zeiss foundation at the Institute for Atmospheric Physics at the Johannes - Gutenberg - University in Mainz, Germany.

The programming and maintaining of several submodels for ECHAM5/MESSy was part of the scientific work for my PhD - Thesis and Postdoc times at the Max-Planck Institute for Chemistry (Mainz, Germany) and is still an active part of my current work.
